'67 El Camino "The Way"

The Car

This 1967 El Camino was the car that birthed God’s Rods. Originating in Arizona, the car was purchased in 2012. It features the original 283ci small block Chevrolet V8 with factory air conditioning. With about 130,000 miles on the clock, we’ve decided to leave her as she is and enjoy her as a “daily driver” offering us the opportunity to share not only this beautiful, hand painted artwork by Lockport, NY artists Jeff Watkins and Mark Weld.

The Theme

“El Camino” is translated as meaning “The Way!” And what a perfect vehicle for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The early believers were refered to as followers of “The Way.” It was a term that Jesus used at the last supper, referring to Himself as “the way, the truth, and the life.” There are ten different murals starting on the driver side front fender, and wrapping around the back,  up the passenger side, then finishing on the hood. The hand-painted artwork captures everything from the creation account, to the future City of God… the New Jerusalem!
