'71 "Deuce and a Half"
The Truck
This 1971 GM 2-1/2 Ton, turbocharged diesel US Army transport truck, known as a “Deuce and a Half” was a special find for us. After sitting for three years in a field, we swatted away the hornets nests, threw a battery in her, and she started right up! We knew then that it was going to be a great vehicle for the gospel. We heard that the truck had been in a Hollywood movie production prior to falling into the hands of a friend who gave it to our ministry. Pretty cool!
The Theme
There are actually three. You’ll see a couple of permanent flags to honor our Country and what it stands for. On the doors you’ll see the “Ultimate Sacrifice” and all of our different armed forces represented. In the center is a soldier saluting three crosses, the center one once holding a “King” (Jesus) who would sacrifice His own life so that our sins would be forgiven. And by simply believing and putting our faith in Him we are given “eternal” life and a “forever” home with Him in heaven someday.
The last theme is two large murals depicting the “last days”. The one has pictures of many of the wars that the U.S. has been in during its history. And then you’ll see Matthew 24:6, “And you will hear of wars and rumors of war.” The following verses talk about nation against nation, kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes, there will be false prophets, sin will abound and the love of many will grow cold. And if you love Jesus, you will be hated by all nations. And when this Gospel (“Good News”) about the love of Jesus for all mankind is preached in all the world, then the end will come. Jesus will return in all His glory.
The other side is “Armageddon”. Maybe you’ve heard of it. It is literally a war to end all wars. The Bible foretells in the Book of Revelation what happens before this. There will be seven years of tribulation. The anti-christ “666” will show up along with a false prophet and a “beast”. They will deceive many people. And why? Because people will have “itching ears”: they would rather believe a lie than to believe in Jesus. So because of man’s great wickedness, God will send great and terrible judgments upon the earth. And why shouldn’t He? He had created a perfect earth, a beautiful garden called Eden, a sinless couple named Adam and Eve to take care of it, but something happened. They disobeyed God and sin entered the world. We were created to bing glory to God and now mankind would want the glory. Good versus Evil would now enter mankind’s history and now it would reach it’s climax: Armageddon. But there is hope yet as the Lord Jesus will intervene and bring an end to destruction and preserve a people for His kingdom.
By the way, God Himself is the only One who knows the exact day when Jesus comes back, so He tells us just to be prepared.
